The Clowns had a long history in baseball starting in the 1930s and ending in the 1980s. Known as a touring, circus act team akin to the Harlem Globetrotters, the team would make a home in several cities including Indianapolis. The first team to give a contract to a woman (one of 3) as well as fielding a legend like Hank Aaron and winning a championship in 1950, the Clowns were one of the most important teams in Negro League history.
